1980 Ford Escort 1600 Sport. RHD Import from South Africa with all tax and duty paid. NOVA declaration has been done and we will do all the registration paperwork for the new owner. Not a bad looking old car which has been fitted with a 2.0 Pinto and 5 Speed box. It does start run and drive but will need a bit finishing off / work to make it roadworthy.

Body - Export spec 1600 Sport shell with similar strengthening to our RS models. Original inner wings, strut tops, rear arches are good. Looks quite straight along the sides. Has had front floor pans replaced with proper panels. You can see the join which is not overly offensive, but not invisible either. Boot wells have been repaired in the past. In my opinion these need redone. Evidence of a bit filler in rear lower quarters, from when boot wells have been done. Also evidence of repairs on the front of the sills. Paintwork is generally pretty tidy. Bonnet has a crack in the paint on one side. 1600 sport stripes fitted, Good bumper with over riders front and back. Spotlights replaced. Passenger door mirror missing. If you want super shiny show car then its not this. If you want to get a useable tidy one which you can tinker with and improve as you go then it could be this one.

Mechanics - 2.0 Pinto fitted which starts no problem. No smoke or nasty rattles. 5 speed box fitted. Car starts runs and drives. We had it round the industrial estate and it drives not too bad and feels quite tight. The gearstick will need looking at as it goes straight into reverse without any resistance but box is ok and selects all 5 gears.Would appear to have had the steering rack replaced and the rack mounts are poly bushed. Rear anti roll bar has also been poly bushed but not fitted and is in the boot.

Interior - Seats have been retrimmed in the replica sport fabric, which is available in SA. Seats are nice. Door cards have speaker holes. Dash top has been retrimmed as has the centre console. Tidy enough job but just doesnt look how it should.

Wheels - 7 inch Minilight style wheels with good tyres.
